What is Micro-Needling?
The Micro-Needleing process utilises a precision engineered hand held medical device that helps combat the appearance of scars, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, stretch marks, cellulite.
Medical Skin Needling, also referred to as Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and Micro-Needling encourages Collagen and Elastin production within the skin and helps to reduce the appearance of skin imperfections making the skin smoother, brighter, healthier and younger looking.
Micro-needles are used to part the pores on the top layer of the skin without damaging them. The body responds by initiating the healing process by releasing growth factors and triggering the production of Collagen and Elastin in the skin. The pores close approximately an hour after using the roller, during which time your skin’s ability to soak up the nutrients of skin creams and lotions will increase.
By persistently triggering the healing process, the body continues to heal itself until the desired cosmetic level of skin repair is achieved.
Microneedle therapy can be safely performed on all skin colours and types. There is minimal risk of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, as the melanocytes which reside in the basal layer of the epidermis, remain like the dermis intact during needling.
This is a main difference between Microneedle therapy and other invasive procedures that are used to treat deep lines and depressed scars, i.e. laser resurfacing, deep chemical peels and dermabrasion.
Is Micro Needling Safe?
Skin needling does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal downtime (max. 24hrs), rapid healing and requires simple after-care. Clinical skin needling is minimally invasive and normally no blood is drawn, however small amounts of pin point bleeding in clients with thin skin may occur and should be considered as normal.
How lone does the treatment take?
Generally you can expect the treatment process to last 20-30 minutes
